I recently purchased a house and the previous ower left a Homelite Bandit SX-135 with no manual. I have never operated a gas trimmer and have no idea on how to start it. Can someone please tell me what steps I must perform to get this thing started.

Thanks.
Barabra

Those instructions will not work on a Homelite. Try this link...

See if it has an on-off switch. Some dont; they simply have a kill button to press when you want to turn it off. Turn the switch "ON" if it has one. Find the choke lever & push it to "ON" or in the direction of the arrow. This is used for starting a cold engine only. When the engine is warm, no need to choke it. Make sure unit has fuel which is a mixture of gasoline & 2 cycle oil. Set the trigger that controls speed (usually a thumb lever) with the lock button, at fast. This will make it run fast upon starting, whereupon you touch the trigger & release speed back to an idle. Now yank the starter cord rapidly. Will probably take several times to make it fire like it wants to start. When it "barks" like it will start, push choke lever "off". Pull again & it should start. You will not understand a word of these instructions. Find a man & have him show you.
