Darren: The only question I have is what are you planning on doing with them? Not to be rude, but if you"re asking this question, my bet is that you"re not going to be doing work that requires top-shelf quality. If so, (and 90% of people, myself included, fall in this category) then the China-made stuff will work fine. I"ve got several China-made dial calipers, a digital caliper, several micrometers, a couple of dial indicators, and various other measuring tools that have worked out fine. A couple of other notes--nearly every cheapie mail-order place (Harbor Freight, Enco, Cummins, Homier, and Northern Tool to name a few) is selling the same stuff, so you don"t have to limit yourself to Grizzly. I"ve had excellent luck with Enco--much faster and WAY more knowledgable and professional than Harbor Freight or some of the others. Also, there are different grades of "cheap", even with the China stuff--you"ll be happier getting a slightly better grade than the absolute cheapest, which frequently are of horrible quality. We got in some dial calipers a few years ago at work that were 0.100" per revolution, but the rack was calibrated for 0.050" per revolution! Needless to say, those went back to the vendor, and the next batch was fine.
