While looking for another mower, we went to the BX (I hate going on base when/if I don't have to)to check out the selection. While looking around, the boss asked about the tool boxes (a 4 drawer chest and a roll-away). The lady told us that the chest was 29.95, and the 4 drawer with storage door cabinet roll-away was $124.95. After asking her about the price three times I decided I had better get the tool chest. Back in 1987, I paid the same price for a less than half this size 3 drawer box. They had the wrong price tag on the display, and I got a $60 discount on the tool chest. Been thinking I should have went for it and bought that roll-away even if though I didn't care for it. Doubt I'll ever get a price on one like that again. And the tax free part just added to the savings.

Still haven't bought a new lawn mower. Saw a Bolens 21" cut with bagger and the bigger rear wheels at Lowe's for $169. Don't know alot about Bolens equipment. Is this a good mower for the price?

later days mates,
Jim

Bolens equipment sold at Lowe"s is made by MTD and is nothing in comparison to the Bolens pre 1990 made in Port Washington Wisc.

Winter is coming on, forget the lawn mower, go back and get the tool chest, you can build a fire in your shop and sort tools, thats more fun then mowing anyway.

Did the same thing with a good thick all wool saddle pad. They dealer had a $145 price tag on it, under a pile of $65 synthetics. I looked at it a few times during the 3 day show and when the Sun. repacking came they told me everything in the stack was $50. Asked the guy 3 times if he was sure about that. Ended up getting it at $85.

Reminds me of going to TSC, and finding a bin of flat braided nylon lead ropes with a sign that said "Clearance Sale" w/ no price. Asked the clerk what the price was, and he said "I'll scan one and see how much they come up." He scanned one, and don't you know it...comes up with .07 (Seven Cents)! How many can I have at that price?, I asked. Take as many as you want, he said...I did!

Bought a Bolens at Lowes last year. Cheap junk !!!! I hope it gets me through this year..... only way to get it started is Ether.... I wish I had taken it right back, but grass was high & time was short... I know it is a matter of time before it OD's on Ether, & tosses a rod. By the way, I would never treat a real engine that way. Regards, Davis

Depending on what engine is on your Bolens, it does have a warranty. I hate seeing people fight with their mowers, even though it is "cheap junk". if the primer is on the side, put a new diaphram in the carb, if it is in the front by the plug, replace the primer/air filter base. We replace a bunch in a years time, they warp and will not prime.
