I posted a message last night and since have found the exact engine from a serial # search I have a restored 1967 evinrude lark 40hp engine and I am trying to learn the gas to oil ratio on this engine. Any help would be great.
THANKS!

I own a repair service for outboard motors in northern Indiana. We work on more OMC (Johnson & Evinrude) motors than anything. The factory changed the oil/gas ratio from 24:1 to 50:1 about 1960 when they changed from the old double-hose (pressure tank) fuel feed system to the single hose system that uses a fuel pump. If your Evinrude dates from 1967, you can be sure it was designed to use a 50:1 mix.

Also: In my opinion, the new OMC TCW-3 oil makes it possible for even the older motors to use 50:1. I have a 1955 Evinrude 15 hp on my fishing boat and I use a 50:1 mix in it all the time. I use only the OMC TCW-3 oil. In three years I've seen no damage and no lessening of efficiency.

I hope some of this helps.

Dont know for sure, but expect you could find out from doing a search for some of the antique outboard forums on Google maybe. It is probably going to be in the range of about 24:1 However don't take this as the final answer. LGD
