Hi all. Does anybody have a resource for buying Caterpillar glue? Ive called a couple dealers, but seems its to small of a purchase for them to bother with returning my calls. I need a good glue to help hold a rubber hose onto an aluminum housing. Couple friends have both recommended using Caterpillars glue, I have been all over the Internet Cat.com and so forth but cant find their glue. Thanks in advance for your help.

As Rauville said, you're looking for Caterpillar "Cement". It will stick anything to just about anything else. Just make sure whatever you stick is where you want it. Using it to secure gaskets is a guarantee that you'll need to chisel them off later.

Perhaps the part number will help...since it's made by 3M, maybe a source besides CAT could get it. Good Luck

Part Number/Trade Name: CATERPILLAR CEMENT 7M7260
(3M:62-2145-3710-2)

National Stock Number: 8030P7M7260

try JB weld KWIK. dries fast and holds tight. best thing i ever found for gluing. be sure to clean both surfaces well, otherwise it won't hold.

Hi Tony,

You might want to look at Grilla Glue, found at any home center, hardware store. From the lable it'll glue anything to anything. From my son and the wood forums it's the best wood glue there is.
I've got some coming but it ain't here yet.

My last can of 3M contact cement was a disappointment from previous years of use so they must of changed something.

Sorry I've never heard of the Cat glue.

You sure you want to glue that hose?

Hi T_Bone, yeah I think so. Im going to have a pyrometer, boost, and transmission temp gauge installed. (Not at dealer) I cant get an answer out of the guys at the front desk it the mechanic will have to take the intercooler hose off the turbo or not to install the boost gauge. When the Ford dealer installed the latest and greatest fix, he said the rubber hose has glue inside the hose. Im a little paranoid about this intercooler hose coming off again. When it came off going over the pass awhile back, this somewhat traumatized that new paint horse I just got. All hell to get him back in a trailer after that trip. Bought one of those videos on how to load horsesits working, not so bad now!

T_Bone, they just don't make things like they used to..... We use lots of chemical products at the shop, & it seems like they get weaker every year. Govt. has made them take TriClor off the market, nothing can clean & degrease as well as it did. Perhaps it is a small price to pay for saving our environment. I do not know enough about chemistry to say whether or not those chemicals really cause any harm.... Regards, Davis

Caterpillar has a yellow gasket cement kinda like 3M weaterstripping adhesive (Gorilla Snot) but you have to pick it up at a genuine CAT store.

If you think they are pulling your leg go find a heavy machinery mechanic who works on Cat equipment. There is such a glue and it does work well. Have a mechanic friend who swears by the stuff.

This stuff does indeed exist, as I remember my dad having a can of it on the shelf about 20 years ago. One of the specified uses was indeed gluing rubber to steel.

Hi Roger, thanks for the information. The Real Ron had me scared that these friends had jerked my chain. I like doing the jerking, but dont like to be jerked, LOL
