OT - ooouuu what is that smell. . .

Anyone here ever install a septic backflow valve to prevent sewer backup? Inside or outside? Preference?

We are still without power and our place got somewhat flooded. We ran generator to keep freezers going and to keep septic sump pump going. Early, early this morning generator ran out of gas and sump pump quit which resulted in sewer backup into master bath and bdrm. Mostly just stinky water and mad hatter Mrs.

Also, can a floating floor drain plug at the lowest point (master bath) be used in conjunction with backflow valve? Want to try and prevent a repeat of this fun :)

I was hoping you were writing about smelling fresh bread in the oven after the power was restored. Guess not.

Good to hear you're mostly OK. No idea for you about a check valve. We're 75' higher than our septic, not an option for you. I'd feel real uncomfortable relying on electricity to have a pleasant home.

What's left of Frances is dumping several inches of rain on us today. Nothing like you got, but there'll be flooding.
