We have bought an 80 Gallon Husky Compressor at Home Depot and need to find a way to make it less noisy. Is there any way to do this? The people at the store here seem to have never heard of people putting mufflers on a compressor, but were very interested if we ever found an answer. We run this machine for a home business and need to keep it more quiet for our neighbors. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

unhook the input air filter. Install as big a truck muffler as you are willing to pay for in its place, then put the filter on the inlet of the muffler.

You did not say where you had it mounted. Inside or outside. Not much way to make a compressor quiet other than an put it in a sound proof enclosure but then you get into ventilation issues.
