Can someone provide me with the brand name and model of a good and inexpensive compression tester that will fit different size plug holes?

Thanks

Thanks guys. I went to Pep Boys and bought the Lesle or whatever it was called. Did a compression check and have about 150# in all cylinders. I would assume that this is good correct?

Thanks

Go to an auto parts place, CARQUEST, FEDERATED, O'REILLY or PEP BOYS and look on the Lisle Tool boards. You will find a nice gauge, hose, stair stepped threaded end for different thread plug holes, and it will be reasonable priced. Good products.

Got one from Harbor Freight for less than $20. I compared the reading with my Father-in-Law's $100+ tester and the results were within 2 psi.

I'll stick with the Harbor Freight model.

Good luck,
Dan

I bought one from Harbor Freight for less than $10.
I figure as long as you"re not relying on it being precise (and I"m not saying that it"s NOT precise) then it"d be fine.

It"s a gas compression gauge, by the way...

NAPA. Be sure you get the right one... one is for gas engines (low compression), one is for diesels (high compression).

Diesels are 400 to 500#. Gas is 80 to 170.
