Sears Eager 1 Lawn Mower

Well I have managed to finish off a rough week at work by damaging the lawn mower. Went to mow the alley, and hit the water meter cover of the neighbors house. Broke the mounting flange and bent (it looks like it anyway) the crankshaft on the 4.0 HP Tecomseh engine. Prior to realizing that the crank was bent, I went to the Sears Parts and Service Store and paid for a new mounting flange for the engine. Would anyone have a crank for this thing that was in good condition? A new one is $47.58 and I would rather not buy a new one if I don't have to. Going to try to get this one straightened on Monday. It's a Sears Eager 1 Lawn Mower. The engine Ser # is 143.964006, and the part # is 35798. Any help with this would be very much appreciated. I priced a new lawn mower at Sears, and it's a little awkward to think that a simular mower new is just a little more than what the parts and shipping to repair this one will cost.

Considering the ubiquity of these things at garage sales, you might want to consider picking another one up to cannibalize for parts.

(Of course, this might not be a viable option if you're married. Some women take a dim view of keeping a fleet of junk lawnmowers around. Go figure.)

Reminds me of what I once did as a teen-ager. I bought 3 pickup loads of old mowers, My Mom had a hissy fit. I put together about a dozen good mowers, then sold the scrap ones for more than I gave for the whole bunch..... . Later she even said she was proud of me. :<)

A small engine shop will likely be able to straighten the crankshaft.
