Security Camera Brand

Well I got a new neighbor thats a theif. Thats makes three of them (thievs) plus 4 drug dealers that I"m trying to get rid of so I need to set a trap.

I want to put in some wireless trip remotes, several maybe 4 stations, thats about 300ft from a 115v electrical source. I could run a 115v source if needed and forget the wireless.

My trap is going to be a recorded video camera with sileant trip at my house so I know when there at my shop or getting close to my shop or my house.

I"m thinking that I"m making a huge dent in the drugers profit that retalation is not far away and I want heads up before they get to my house, about 7 aceres total in a 400ft x 800ft rectangle. I fugure I have to hold them off for about 15min before the Sherrif can get here.

I have several dogs roaming loose outside and one inside and so far thats been working. Now it"s fence my property as the new thief called the dog pound and got several of my outside dogs impounded (running loose on my property). No biggie but a $200 fine. So I"m going to install one of those hidden wire dog stoppers, with the dog collar, on my property so the dogs can"t be called off my property.

Na, I ain"t moving as I"ve been here 20yrs and I would just have to start over with the new drugers some where else. So with video tape in hand I figure I can get rid of a few druggers and couple thiefs at the same time.

So what brand to buy? I need some lo lux cameras that record a video good enough for identification of plate numbers and the person at night.

Another software package turns the PC into an alarm system. Has support for video triggered alarms, wired sensors, panic buttons. You call in to check on the status of your alarm. Quite sophisticated.

I got caught on the ADT tape for chatting with a friend who was hard of hearing. Next thing I know, a policeman was at my door. I am now a listed as a "threat" to the NATIONAL GOVERNMENT.

Here in Arizona we can video tape and tape record voice without signs AS long as your on your own property.

You can also point a camera at another house as long as you don"t publicly distribute the video or use it to pear into the house.

They offered me use of one after I had 2 attempts on consecutive nights on my remote shop. Didn't take them up on it. Instead I put in a no-false-alarm vehicle sensor. We're a little more remote than you. Then, with the self-closing gate on the one road up this mountain, we let the neighborhood know we were wired. Pedestrians we don't experience.

Problem solved to date. Oh, gotta be known to be armed, but that shouldn't be any problem for you. You don't think a little backyard target practice with one of your cannons would suffice?

First step, of course, is to wire your shop so you know about an attempt, unless you want to rely on your dogs. Let me know if you need help there. Hardware's inexpensive. Mine transmits a signal 750' to the house. Backup system's also in place. Don't go to Radio Shack or Surplus Center.

Had an alarm business in another life. We found that the trick is to get the perp to go elsewhere by being too difficult, not worth the effort. Anyplace can get broken into, but we aren't talking about overly energetic people. If you're more difficult, they'll go elsewhere. Getting them removed, other than Ron's method (which our county police unofficially approve), didn't realistically work.

My problem also was partly revenge. I followed the oil drips to the trailer. Good luck.

I"m already known to shoot first ask questions latter by the entire neighborhood. How I got that named I"ll never know other than if a strange vechile goes by I will follow it for aways and of course my six freinds are always with me.

I haven"t had to big of a problem until I started getting on the drug dealers. I made them move a 1ton van worth of drugs a few months back. They also lost there stolen Chevy Blazer they were using.

Now they getting more sneaky and using another road that I can"t see too well. They changed to using the mail box out front of my place but quickly changed there mind. Too bad as that was Federal.

So yes give me your brand name that works well. 750ft would do well for me as my shop is only 200ft from the house.

Good idea about checking with the local mounty.

As somebody else pointed out, your low-life neighbors thinking you're nuts is a good thing. I knew we had something in common. LOL

The driveway sensor is Cartel. Sensor is buried in the road, or next to it. Wire is buried to the processor. You buy the sensor with appropriate wire length, no splicing. Multiple sensors possible. Dedicated ground rod required for the processor. When I first set it up, my steeltoed boots set it off. Senses steel moving, something to do with the earth's magnetic field, I think. Anyhow, very adjustable. No false alarms, even with lightning. Last thing I needed was a 3am trip down to the shop for nothing.

I use X-10 transmitter/receiver through the elec. line to transmit to the house. Turns on a radio in our case. Transmitters are somewhat lightning surge sensitive. I keep a spare, X-10 PF 284 or (newer) PSC01. Cartel people told me to use X-10 even though they had radio transmitters.

Backup system is a sound-actuated intercom, also going through the elec. line to another unit in the house. It'll hear rodents rustling or anybody breaking in. Also the alarm siren, which we'd never hear in our concrete underground house.

I get Cartels from an alarm wholesaler. Around $160 with processor, IIRC. X-10's on Ebay, but Radio Shack sometimes carries them. AT&T 728A sound-actuated intercoms work great, also Ebay. If you want me to get you a Cartel, or an alarm system for that matter, give me a call. Same folks have a LOT of cameras, but it's been too many years since I've installed to have any brand recommendations, other than to stay away from Sharper Image type systems.

Na there white guys mostly. My cousin is a Federal Marshal and I was talking with him a few years back and he asked where I was living. Told him the county and he heard about how corupt the sheriff dept was and he"s in NJ....LMAO

Thanks for the offer but I"m going to use the X-10 stuff as it"s reasonable and will do what I need.

Arizona is a right to protect State. That means if anyone anywhere is doing harm to another person you have the right to protect that person. Doesn"t have to be on your own property!

No the druggers bring in the drugs from Mexico. Were about 150miles North of the border. We also get a few low flying air craft, about 100ft off the deck, about twice a year.

Our neighbors across the road split up 640 acres. They got the money to do so buy selling drugs. They got caught and the new neighbor got a "free" deed to alot of there propertys that were broke up for small acreage sales. He found a loop-hole in the law that let him keep most of the property. He hit on hard times about 8yrs ago and went into the drug business himself.

Trouble is alot of his property sales are to other drugers on a quit claim deed. That way when they get caught selling/using drugs he gets the property back to resale to another new drugger.

So far he"s been low keyed about his business but lately he"s dealing huge quanitys as twice a year the same vechiles show up for about 2 weeks. Then the local small dealers sell at night, usually Friday and Saturday then stop during the week.

The problem is now he"s selling too much property and it"s getting out of hand. Local Sherrif doesn"t have the funds to dedicate patrols to this area.
