Hello Tech4 and others who are camera savy. I mentioned this camera that took on water up in remote Ontario when my wife fell overboard and the boat took on water .
After drying the camera and replacing the small round battery --the camera will fire up when hooked up to the ac power adaptor and the tape will eject run the film and most of the functions are working sound etc. BUT a code comes up c3123 and the camera will not record. More things are working than I expected but not everything.
It is a Sony DCR-TRV315.
Any suggestions would be welcome--well probably most.
thankyou len in michigan

I am a computer tech and received a service bulliton concerning using solvents to clean heads on tape drives. I would contact the mfgr to see if there were any restrictions to using solvents. They may remove coatings that are needed for proper operation.

That code is a tape load problem. With a normal unit just remove tape and re insert. Can be damaged tape, have you tried a new tape? If it still has problem after re inserting tape the unit needs cleaning and lubrication.

You may can if you are pretty good in small mechanical devices. If there is corrosion or rust it must be cleaned first using something like Radio Shack mini foam swabs and their head cleaner solution. (do not use cotton swabs). You can use alcohol also as cleaner. Lightly oil moving bearings, cams and points that do not touch tape or heads with a needle oiler with light machine oil. Do not get oil where it will touch the tape or heads as you will need to clean with alcohol again
