OT: Propane prebuy price

$1.03 / gl prepaid.
$1.08 / gl 10% down ballance due on delivery

Normally they send out prepay contracts in mid august. This year we got a letter saying that they were going to wait until sometime in Sept because current rates ($1.28) were too high.

I paid $0.979/gal last winter. That was the first winter using LP. Had been using fuel oil with old furnce before. Unfortunately my chimmney collapsed, and they sold me on a furnace upgrade to LP. Don't really like it as much. While it is more efficient, it has a lot less BTUs and you really aren't saving anything when you figure the cost of a new furnace and that it probably won't last beyond six years or so...this dammed electronic computer stuff....

Don't like how this is shaping up and there is nothing I can do.---ecxept start cutting wood earlier. Starting tomorrow instead of after labor day. I think I will be burning a lot more wood this year as well as a lot more shivering.

Have to work for a living--that means 40 hours plus doing something else. Don't have time to heat exclusively with wood, and it isn't cheaper to pay someone else to cut it. Electic isn't any cheaper in this climate. Fuel oil is just as expensive...solar is not cost effective...pick your poison, its all bad.

I'm in the upper midwest.

Heating propane, in volume is currently running $1.30 per gal, provided you take 50 gal. or more.

Cooking propane is $3.00 per gal.

I just paid them for 20 gal. of propane on Thursday. It was worth every penny. I have never called upon them to service my burner in the past 30 years.

after the 1st of October, we shut-down the upstairs rooms and just use the downstairs' bedroom. When I redisgned this house interior to the specifications of MEDICADE, I had to have an alternate source of heat available. I chose to put propane space heaters in each room due to the fact of electrical power loss. So, we only use a small amount of propane for heating until we leave for Florida about Nov. Our primary heat is oil. We drain the water lines and shut-down the house and leave the thermostat on 45 deg. We only use about 50 gal. of oil over the winter months. In Florida, although we have natural gas heat, we use elect space heaters in the rooms that we live in. Electricity is SO,SO, mucher cheaper per BTU than natural gas, there.

Here is PA, the delivery charge is $50.00 if I don't use the minimumn amount of propane. Oil is the same way. So, my point is, Let the neighbors pay the delivery cost.
