According to Sears they no longer have parts for this unit. Right now I'm mainly looking for a clutch lining, but could be looking for more once I take the unit apart. Clutch lining is part # 503069. Told them, dosen't say much for their equipment as I can still get parts easily for my Ford 2N tractor. Their only other suggestion was I take it to one of their service centers and let them work on it and see what they could do. Told them my Dad used to have a service agreement with them and they never could get or keep his lawn tractor running correctly. I now have it, and after going through it, it now starts easily, and runs without stalling. And they think I should let them try and service something they say they don't have parts for?

I also have a Sears Roto Spader Model 785.297251. I was in the middle of tilling up my yard so I could do some land scaping and the the engagement fork broke, (the u-shaped thing that engages the engine drive shaft to the tine drive shaft). All the sears folks could say is it was in our computer sory. Does anyone have a part # for this? Or would any one be willing to buy my tiller?

I have A Sears Roto Spader Triller Model Number # 785.297252. The one you have sounds just like the one I have. But the problem I have is my engine needs to be rebuilt. Where do I get the information on what size and engine brand it is. There is no numbers on the block. How do you get the clutch off the bottom of the engine. Please E-Mail me back.

Thanks Greg

Hi Bill, I have the same model tiller and the drive went bad on me. This also killed my ckutch lining but I was able to find another one. There is one left at The Little Motor Pool in Waldoboro, ME. Their phone number is (207) - 832-7578.

If the problem turned out to be something else, and you would like to part out your tiller, I would love to have your whole tine unit. I'm referring to the section that unbolts from the frame and contains the drive-shaft and tines. Something wnet bad with the drive screw and you cant take the thing apart enough to fix it.

Please email me at [email protected] if you wish to make arrangements to sell it.

Sincerely,

Ben Duffy

Find a dealer that has been in business over 30 years and they can get that clutch lining it was used on several types of tillers in the 50s and early 60s. Dan.
