pressure tank ?

I been reading the articles on pressure. I am having a problem with air in my line. How do you determine if the bladder in the tank is bad. My system holds pressure but I released most of the air and then it comes back

You probably have a leak in the well. Mabey a bad pump check valve or hole in the pipe. See if you can hear air bubbling into the tank after it sits idle for a couple hours.

Not all air in a line is caused by a ruptured bladder, some minerals in a water supply when subjected to a heat differential will, in my experience give off gases. It will be most noticable in the hot water tank. To accomadate this, I installed a air bleed-off system, this works great and its suprising how much smoother my house water system is because of it.This may not be your problem, and would check out all avenues supplied to you on this forum. Air in the line beyond the tank is often caused by a leak... air replaces the water that leaked out. You can buy a pressure gauge at any hardware store that screws onto a hose spigot. Pick the one furthest from the tank. Any pressure drop means a leak. All you have to do is find it!

If the bladder in you tank is bad, the pump will short cycle as the air leaks out of the bladder. Turn the pump off and leave a faucet open until water stops running. Normal air pressure in the tank is 2 pounds less than the cut in point on the pump. If the pressure in the bladder is close to this, it isn't leaking.
