Need a source for reasonably priced trailer axles.

Hello,

I have an old 5'x16' livestock trailer, bumper pull, that needs new axles. The old axles literally have rusted into pieces. I would like to put torsion axles underneath it, probably 3500# each would be a great plenty, as all I plan to haul with it are lambs and my son's show pigs. Anybody got a secret (or not-so-secret), economical supplier??

You need Dexter axles and Redneck is the best source I have found. You do not want axles from Northern because they are Reliable {brand name} axles, which are good axles as far as rolling, but stopping is a problem. The Hayes brakes they use are, uh, tempermental at best. A new Hayes brake shoe is about as thick as an almost wore out Dexter brake shoe. Of course, they are not interchangeable parts!
All my Reliable axles have been switched to Dexter. Furthermore, Dexter replacement parts are a lot easier to find, if you have unexpected problems.

Go to www.Redneck-trailer.com They are the experts. I get all of my trailer parts from them. I have three trailers and a camper. Only place to get parts and EXPERT advice. They should have a distribution center near you and if close enough they might deliver for nominal fee.

Try your local welding shop by the time you pay shipping costs are about the same

I've seen axel stuff at both Northern Tool and Tractor Supply. Check with a local trailer dealer/store to see if they can order what you need. I bet they cant match Northern or TS in price though.
