I inherited an older Eager 1 Lawnmower at least 7 years old. Was trying to get it to work. When I put gas in it, the gas all drained out on the side where the air filter, carb is, etc.
You could see the gas pouring out but I couldn't determine from where.
Any ideas as to the problem?

I had one, and the neoprene gas line degenerated about every 3 or 4 years- spiderweb cracks in the line, then would start leaking. The whole thing lost its eagerness after about 10 years, and I junked it.

Is gas running out the carburetor by any chance? If it's been setting for more than a year, there's a good chance the carb is all gummed up. Get a carburetor kit from Sears or a small engine shop. (The engine is actually a Tecumseh and you should be able to get parts locally, see the link below for the Sears parts site.) Dissassemble the carb and clean it out real good with carburetor cleaner or lacquer thinner. Make sure that all the passages are clean by running a thin wire down them. Also check the float for leaks by shaking it and listening for any gas sloshing around inside. Reassemble and your problem should be solved.

The gas line fromt he tank enters the carb. from behind. there is a plastic 90 degree elbow that is pressure fitted to the backside of the carb and the gas line also fits onto the other end. This plastic piece can work loose from vibration and any pulling on the gas line itself... this would be my guess as to where your leak is coming from...
