I have a smaller trailer to prep and I wanted to sandblast it. Most of the folks around here want a small fortune to blast the thing so I decide to buy a "cheap" Clarke blaster from TSC.

The thing actually works pretty good but I can only use #4 sand. If I try #3 it stops up the tip. #3 Really takes the paint off in a hurry but I have to constantly remove and unclog the tip.

Has anyone ever adapted a larger tip on one of these? And what size do I need for #3 sand?

I'm no pro, but have been doing a bit of blasting lately... started off with a siphon blaster & had some of the same problems you describe. As far as changing out to a larger tip... unless you have a LARGE compressor, I think you'll just be trading clogging problems for reduced (and probably inadequate) air pressure. Not sure what size your outfit is but, for comparison, I moved up to a 175cfm compressor and a large pressurized pot and I use a 1/4" tip... might get by with using a 5/16", but many have recommended AGAINST it (even with the flow that my compressor puts out). When I was using my first set-up, I think the tip was about 1/8"... very slow (and lots of clogging), but it worked! HTH Regards, DL
