Got a Lincoln Welder with an Onan prorformer 16XSL engine. I bought it used with no manual. What is the hour interval for changing the oil, plugs, air and gas filter?

Thanks

Richard,

Our manuals at work indicate 100 hours for oil and filter, 100 hours for air filter (depending on conditions). I didn't see a specific interval for fuel filter and plugs. I would recommend about every other oil change on the fuel filter and maybe 400-500 hours on the plugs. Hope this helps!

Don't know but Onan went out of business thanks to the EPA.EPA said no more in head engines, only overhead.Onan said take a hike EPA.(SO they told me at Roy Padget's Small Engine Warehouse)So take good care of it.Parts only are available once all the new engines are gone.I bought one of the last 20 HP. Performers a few weeks ago for a Deere 910 front mower.I would change the oil and filter every 25-30 hours.

I thought Onan was bought out by Cummins? New parts can be had for a price.

Yeah, Cummins dealers have the parts. BUT grab your wallet with both hands!! I just priced a carb overhaul kit for my 16 hp Onan that's in my garden tractor. Two kits required - one for gaskets, one for other parts. $36.00 for the gasket kit, $138.00 for the parts kit. That's right - One hundred and seventy-four dollars BEFORE tax! To overhaul a single-barrell carb! If this engine ever dies, i'm going to replace it with something else regardless if Onan is in buisness or not!!

Take good care of it - you can't afford not to!
