How about a 19.5 spindle hole lathe?

This is one that gets backshelved a lot at work. It's got problems and has yet to see chips in at least the 2 years I've been there. Gisholt tracing lathe, rumored to be ex-military cannon barrel maker. With the bed sections bolted together it'd be about 50' on the tailstock end and another 15-20 out the other. Funny the tailstock is left of the headstock.

The history of that machine may be very interesting, could have made the barrles for the battle ships ..... Jer

Would that steady-rest fit my 10 inch Hardinge Lathe??? All kidding aside, there is a market for a lathe of that size. It is hard to imagine what it would cost to build one like that now.
