Curious where people purchase sandblasting media? Tractor supply sells 50 pounds of a variety of media for $24-$29. I am looking for black beauty as I have heard good things about it. Don't want to use sand for health reasons. Thanks for advice.

I have bought Black Beauty from the local concrete, sand, gravel company here in Milw. I believe Northern Tool also sells it. La Crosse should have an industrial supplier around such as Kelbe Bros, Lincoln Contractors Supply, or maybe a United rentals to try.

We sell Black Beauty for a little over $5/ 100#.
Don't know where you're located, but you might check with someone that does blasting in your area and see where they get theirs.
Careful with the Black Beauty, though----it's pretty hard stuff, and will etch metal if you're not careful.....

Hey Al,
Unfortunately, I'm too far away from you to do you much good... if you check out your local yellow pages, you might be able to get a lead on where you can buy sandblast supplies in your area. I bought a pallet of black beauty... 35 (100 lb) bags per pallet... price went to $6.75 per bag!
Regards, DL

Hey Al,
Because of the weight involved, you'll want to purchase media close to home (to avoid shipping costs). I buy mine from a local company that sells a variety of industrial equipment (pressure washers, generators, compressors, sand blast products, etc). 100# bag of black beauty goes for about 8 bucks... cheaper if you buy a pallet!
HTH

Look under "Sand" in the Yellow Pages and call around. Also saw boxes of glass bead media at Harbor Freight the other day.

Check out Reade Materials. Use the product Black Beauty. I like the 3000 Grit.
