I have a 17 year old FS80R trimmer that still works great. Starts second or third pull and will run and cut all day. Now the problem, the clutch is wore out. A new clutch is no longer avaliable from the parts department. They even called around to try and locate one with no success. Can I just reline it with some kind of barke lining material or something else? Will epoxy hold on a new liner? Would it have to be rivited on? The old one looks like it is glued on. Any ideas? Anybody have an old one I can use for parts? I hate to throw it away, it's like an old friend! Sorry for the long post, Thanks for the help. Roger Allgood

Roger, I just bought the new model of that trimmer. Mine has a lifetime warranty on the clutch, you might want to check.

yes I have several new & used. But I never saw the designation "R" after a FS-80 before. Anyway Robin & Green Machine used the same clutch, so it should be on somebodys shelf close to you.

The R was the loop handle. This is the older model, the newer model, with plastic cover, has the lifetime clutch shoes. Somebody should have them, they fit about 3 other models in the Stihl line.
