Along with my bed liner dilemma - I have been looking for an Aluminum tool box for the bed. I came across a nice used Weathergard Model 117 for sale pretty reasonable. Only problem I saw with it was that it is starting to get these white spots in the aluminum finish. It looks like they are under some type of plastic film. It where a way to polish or buff these white spots out? The rest of the box is cherry. Thanks for the help.

Aircraft Stripper, it will take off the clear coat then you can polish out the bad spots and clear coat again or just polish about once a year to keep it shinny. 0000 steel wool works great for polishing. You can buy stripper at most auto parts stores.

Angle grinder with 8" spiral sewn cotton wheel. Start with black emery, followed by the Brown Tripoli. Hand finish with aluminum polish and you'll blind everybody with 2 block.

Sounds like there might be a clear-coat type coating over a once polished surface. The coating is going to have to come off before you can get a uniform good finish.

Talk to a trucker that keeps his rig polished up, or check at a truckstop for aluminum polish.
