There are many different O2 sensor codes. ALL OBDII vehicles have heated O2 sensors in ALL locations-no exceptions. This means they will have four wires. The codes can be shorted to power, shorted to ground, open circuit, bank rich, bank lean, or stays at center. There can be up to 2 upstream (before the cats) and up to 2 downstream (after the cats). Here is the important part. IF the code is for Catalyist Inefficiency, the cat is most likely dead. Either from age, deterioration (falling apart like jeeps always do), or from contamination. The Catalyist Inefficiency code is set because the rear sensor has read exactly the same as the front sensors for a given amount of time. There have been people who have built the device you ask about which simply provides a voltage which fluctuates between .1 and .9 volts. However, lying to the computer is bad, it will just reduce fuel economy and most likely lead to other problems. The time, effort, and money spent will be more than repairing the vehicle the right way in the first place. I have seen some GM trucks that had bad convertors due to leakage. The assembly was a one-piece deal from manifolds to the main pipe. It cost a fortune. I could see your asking this question, the one I priced was on a Yukon and cost over $600. If your case is similar, perhaps a local exhaust shop could weld in the needed units a little cheaper.
