Hey guys I know from reading the post that some of you have discover how handy a Swench can be. I discovered something the other day that a Swench worked great on. I had to tear down a hydraulic cylinder the other day to repack it. It was one of those with the spanner holes in the face of the gland that can often be a nightmare to get out. I put my OTC pin spanner on it along with a 3/4 drive ratchet and a cheater bar and it didn't even think about moving, it just laughed at me. I happened to think about my 3/4 Swench and the offsets I had gotten with it and how the spanner would basiclly act just like an offset would. Long story short, I hooked the Swench to the spanner ( I did have to use a short offset for the head to miss the rod) and held it in the holes good and tight and gave it a couple of pops on #4 and the gland broke loose and then backed right out with a big pair of pliers. I did 'er the same way going back in to make sure it was good and tight and I was done. It made what I had expected to be a long drawn out mess breaking the gland loose into a 45 minute job start to finish.

I got mine off Ebay from a guy that uses the seller name "Molinestud". The way I understand it he and his Dad run an outfit called Riverview Surplus up in IL. It's been a couple of years since I got mine, but at the time his Dad was doing all the store stuff and Jeff was doing the online stuff, and one might have something the other didn't. You should be able to get a number off his Ebay "store" and call them direct. I got my first set from him off Ebay and then bought a second set about a year later for a customer that wanted one. That time he didn't have anything listed so I simply called and did it one on one without Ebay. I know you can get a 1" drive through CAT, it is, or was listed in their tool catalog, but I'll guarantee you they want a arm and both legs for it.Most of the ones I've seen are military surplus so hit some of the surplus sites also and you might luck out that way. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Well, I don't have the offsets you have, but it sounds like an excellent use for the Swench. Hydraulic cylinder ends and gland nuts can be a real bear, and this is a case where a power impact wouldn't work.
