Borrowed one from a buddy to try out (was wanting to buy one). Only problem for me was that my Polaris ATV is an automatic, and doesn't really like to go slow enough. His ATV (Arctic Cat) is shift model and worked fine. Without a cruise control, I thought it would get very tiring either way, as thumb control throttle must be constantly adjusted. Seemed heavy duty enough, but was a pain in tight corners...

I have a Swisher 60" trailing mower that I pull with the lawn tractor. The 13hp Tecumseh engine keeps up with the load, and it does a good job at the max speed the old Wheelhorse or the newer Huskee will pull it. They are made for lawns, not weeds, and the blades must be kept sharp. I think Swisher makes the ones Polaris sells (or did sell) that have swivel wheels on all corners and are pushed by the ATV.

Sounds like you are wanting one of the pull behind finish mowers? I've got one of the swisher rough cut baby brushhogs on it's second season. Here is a link to a post I made on another site with my experiences with it.

The finish mower is a little less expensive than the one I have. For the money I am well pleased with what it'll do. Better get back to my lurking and studying it's future replacement TRACTOR...

I've got a Swisher 48" and like it. Bought it at Northern Tool, they are available other places also. I used it behind the ATV for mowing about 1 1/2 acres of "rough lawn" I wanted to keep trimmed down and didn't want my good rider to get beat up....kids also thought it was fun to mow with the ATV so they could mow the fields while I mowed my lawn. Now that the the area has been mowed for about 2 years it's smoother and I pull the Swisher with my rider mower, takes only half the time to mow and does a good job. I would recommend for a large open area, but I wouldn't want to use the pull behind if you have a lot of trees or other stuff to mow around.

Have not used but,Swisher Mower,Agrifab,Cycle Country are some names.Worked on a Swisher Trail Mower awhile back(tune up/sharpen).Semmed to be solidly/well built.Agrifab unit is a tad lighter construction, less $$(box store/farm outlet sales) but would prolly serve well if maintained well.Northern Tool carries a couple of the above brands, can't recall which.Often there is a heavier/bigger hp model and a lighter "finish" model.
