The local Lowe's has some of this cultured marble counter top that I can get pretty reasonable. How do I cut it the length I need? Can I do it with a circular saw with a special blade? I have one for cutting concrete blocks and another for cutting ceramic tile. Will either one of those work?

How should I do this? Table saw or router?

Keep your pinkie finger on your right hand in the air at all times during "cultural marble" cuts.

Thanks for the tips. I have a diamond blade on my Skill HD77 worm drive saw. I would think that would do it. I'll pick up a piece of it on the way home tonight and see how it does.

I cut and install cultured marble tops a lot. I use a diamond blade in a circular saw. Then beltsand if you need a precision fit. Caulk helps to hide the ends/back against walls. The others are right, cut from the back.Dusty.

I just finshed a counter top. They sell a wet table saw for $88. It worked great. The marble is soft and several pieces broke. I had a lot of angles and notches. Cut on the back side.

Each product has it's own recommendations for proper cutting tools and techniques. Lowes is happy to advise you too.

Actually, I asked three different salespeople at Lowes about cutting it and they all said "I dunno" One went so far to say that these things were cast and you could not cut them. So that is my challenge. I will try to lurk the net and see if I can find the answer.

Try the manufacturer's website or 800#. A very general rule is that a fine tooth carbide blade works well but all the manmade counter top products each come with cutting instructions.

What Ron said and ...

Very fine tooth carbide blade is the right type. Buy two if you have a lot of cutting to do. Never cut cultured marble with a dull blade. Cut from the back side and use masking tape on the front and back where you plan on cutting. It discourages the cultured marble from crumbling.
