Was looking at Harpor Feight pipe benders....any good or bad stories out there? There are many on the market but like anything else, you can spend a wad. I just need one for occasional use, not daily or anything. TIA.

They work. I've got friends that have them. Works adequately on thick walled stuff like pipe. Not so good on thin wall stuff like conduit, tends to crush it.

I would be bending like schedule 40 etc some but I would want to use it sometimes for exhaust pipe etc .....I guess no good for that, huh? I was specifically looking at the 3 inch version that has 8 dies 1/2 through 3".

It can be done with sand packing and a lot of carefull pressing and relaxing. The problem is the pipe/conduit/tube doesn't like to travel up on those side rollers, so the center mandrel tends to punch on through, crushing things.

Nope- they won't work well on anything thin-walled like exhaust pipe. The reason is that exhaust pipe isn't really "pipe" at all, it's tubing. And most of the time you need a tubing bender to bend tubing without kinking or crushing it.
