Help, my brain is shutting down. Trying to hook up the electric brakes for my trailer--all lights work but my trailer brakes are staying engaged. Any ideas? Thanks, Becky

This is the industry standardized wiring diagram.

We need to know what type of plug setup you have. Possibly the 7 pin RV style (round center pin surrounded by 6 flat pins)?

If so, you may have the black power wire switched with the blue brake wire.

You should verify the trailer is wired correctly. Whatever color is used on the trailer for the brakes must pin match to the blue wire in the tow vehicle plug.

Thanks Ron, I will give it a try. It is a brand new horse trailer with a 6 pin connector. I think you hit it on the head--I found another site that said some horse trailers have the blue and black wire switched. I'm an automotive instructor by trade and I felt like an idiot when my brain shut down but I just don't do trailer wiring. The last time I did it was 12 years ago when I wired the last truck.
