Mix Borax with a little powdered sugar and set it where they can get it. They carry both back to the nests and eat it as they can't tell the difference. Should kill them in a few days.

Set out a small dish of rum next to a pile of sand. The ants will drink the rum, get drunk and kill themselves by throwing stones at one another.
Or get some Amdro. This stuff was made to kill fire ants down south. It will kill any ant that takes it back to the mound. good stuff. www.amdro.com

They ant bait stations work real well and fast for that matter. Get a pack and stick them on the wall near the baseboard or floor where they ants are comming from and they will be gone fast.

If you have access to the nest, use diatomaceous earth, if not, boric acid. Both wipe out the nests and are safe around food. kids, and pets.

If you place dio earth on a major path it will stop ants there. Even disturbing dirt on major path will cause ants to lose their way.

If you want to to chemical, Grant's Kills Ants, will be taken back to nest.

Best thing I've found is a product called TERO, available at most hardware stores. it is a thick liquid that you put near trails so they will find it and carry it back to the nest. Takes a couple days, but sure wipes them out.
