Pump for irrigation

I am looking at getting a pump so I can use water from my pond for watering trees and gardens around the pond. I looked at some cheap pumps at Atwoods, approx. 160$, but you normally do not get much engine/ quality for that price.
Do anyone have any experience with those or recommendations on other decent pumps.
In some case I will need to water places that are 150 feet uphill of the pond.
Also is it best to locate the pump close to the pond or to the place you want to water.

The pump will have to make 65psi just to lift the wtaer. Still need more pressure to overcome pipe friction. Going to need 150psi at the pump outlet at your desired flow rate if using spray heads.

Northern Tool has the right stuff, pumps, suction hoses, and discharge hoses. You'll spend 3 times that $160. Basically you want the pump near the pond... it's much easier to push water than draw it. But you'll also have to walk that 150' to start and stop it.

I found a lot of good information on Lawnsite.com about irrigation. Looks like I need to do a bit of homework on number and types of heads etc. before I get to the pump.

keep the pump close to the water apump will only suck the water upabout 21ft. when every thing is near perfect. the higher you are the harder to prime.
