I am looking for a manual for my Ryan trimmer. I need to get the cover off the clutch assembly, to see if I can fix the pull cord.

I just had this same problem. If you have not fixed it yet, you can email me and I can help. The clutch housing is secured by a single slotted screw. The clutch assembly unscrews from the shaft in the normal fashion, not reverse threaded.
If you need more help, just email me.

I don't suppose anyone knows how to adjust the throttle mixture screws on a Ryan 284-3?

There are two screws. One has a strange sloped slot on it. I don't know what the mfg adjustment specs are and after "tweaking" it ran GREAT while hot... but now I can't get the darn thing started.

What model Ryan? I have one but I will need to know if yours is the same as mine, if so I'll copy my manuel for you.

Joe: I don't know anything about the Ryan specifically, but a lot of these weedwhackers have a Torx screw buried inside the attachment for the shaft. It's down there a couple of inches--you may not be able to reach it with a normal torx bit and may need a long one.
