Lincoln Welder with Continental F163 Carb Problems

Hello All!

I am new to this, but I have a Lincoln SA200 welder with a Continental F163 Engine with a Marvel Carb. I just rebuilt the carb and for some reason, the engine pulses and runs un-even when the choke is OFF. However, when I put the choke on 1/2 way, it evens the engine right out. What is the deal, any ideas?

Well, The fuel delivery was fine and vacuum was tight...I tore down the Carb again and teh spring that holds the needle that attaches to the float was sprung apart, thus not allowing the needle fully open to let fuel into the bowl. Problem solved. Thanks for your help!

I have had that problem with auto's and found vacum leak's to be the problem.Check all hose's and the gasket between the block and intake manifold.Once you get it to run smooth with the choke half closed,spray carb cleaner on and around intake gasket,if the RPM change's, you have a leak.

Mark,

Sounds like you have a relatively simple fuel supply problem (filter, sediment bowl, etc.) A thorough inspection of the tank, filters, and lines should locate the problem.
