It never ceases to amaze me at just how helpful this site is.

Prior to posting my questions, I was told there was nothing I coud do about increasing my water pressure. My common scense told me there must be a solution, however, I was reluctant to experiment until I got some input.

But thanks to all the folks who offered input, I can now see there's a fix to my problem.

I especially want to thank CHRIS. Seems from his answer he was once EXACTLY where I am now, and I concur with his input completely..... ..... ...

Again, THANKS ALL

Here is something that will just puzzle the old noodle. I have a pressure gauge mounted on the wall in my kitchen just over from the sink. Sorry I was raised on a farm. You can monitor how you pump is working. See if you have leaks. It will tell you if you need to put more air in the water tank. All kinds of neat stuff. Now this is whree it gets strainge. The gauge on the pump was around 40lbs and the one on the wall said just under 30lbs.Now here I think there is a very pretty brass bound wall gauge that is MESSED UP! Coolnes took over first. Took a garden hose with an adapter on the end and screwed in the gauge. Walked out side and down the steps. Right on the pump it was 40lbs.!!!As you stood up it would drop one pound for about two feet. GEEEE MR>WIZARD!!!. somethin I just woulda thunk ove! Neet though! Jeff

Yup, near a 1# drop in water pressure for every 2 feet of elevation. Standard plumbing & heating info. :)

Every 15 years or so, the little pipe feeding up to my pressure gauge & to the pressure switch gets full of crud & I lose any meaningful use of those 2 devices. Need to clean out, or replace. If you are fiddling with the switches (and you know you are dealing with real electricity there on those nuts?) you might want to check that option too. I just replace the switch every 15 years, that's about $1 a year. Buy one at 10 or 15 lbs more than your old one.

Chopper,

Are you on municipal water supply or private well? Pressure in pivate water systems can be adjusted, thought there are a number of considerations as to what exactly the problem is, and how much preassure your system can handle effectively.

If you are on public water, I don't know of anything you could do short of installing a "booster pump" with a preassurized storage tank (essentially, you would be installing a private water system, but useing the town water supply as your "well".

You will need to provide more info to get any useful help.
