How do you make a double flare on a piece of tubing, as for brake lines, LP lines and hydraulics? Do you need a flaring tool specifically for making double flares or can you do it with a regular flaring tool?

If you are using AN fittings you would be best off with a 37 degree flare tool which you can get from Summit Racing.

Hi KC,

It's does not pay to buy a cheap flaring tool. I found only a Rigid brand would hold the tubing consistanly without slipping the tube as it's being pressed.

Using The website that John posted, pay close attention to cleaning the inside of the pipe and "lube" the flare thru the press stage while slowly turning the handle.

Just remember the flare on hydraulic lines for JIC fittings is 37-1/2 degrees not 45 degrees like normal SAE flares. So you need a second flaring tool.

You use a double flare attachment to flare the tubing. Then you remove and flare the regular way. If you already have the tubing holder and the single flare tool you only need to buy the double flare attachments.

Yes. And if you buy one, get a good one, not some china crap. These are easy to make with the quality right tool. Kinda neat to.

Just ask for a double flaring tool.
