Lincoln 225 AC welder problem

I bought a Lincoln 225 welder at an auction the other day and I'm having a problem with the dial. It's almost impossible to change the settings. Is there some adjustment on this or did I buy a lemon?

Take the cover off the machine and look at it...someone may have tried to switch it under power and arced it...making it hard to turn. A bit of dressing with a file or die grinder would help along with some resistive grease. Also, while the cover is off, take an air hose to it...do it once a year and it will last longer. Fred OH

The parts are some sort of plastic, I used silicon liquid lube on mine. The knob has a setscrew on it to remove it, you should then be able to lube the mechanism.

I would take the cover off of it and seeif you could clean or lube the switch/dial. These are good welders for a basic welder.

on those lincoln welders yiu have to pull out on the knob to turn it. if you don't it will ruin the switch.
