Young friend of mine, one of those survivalist types, tells me that he shoots the carpenter bees with a BB gun. That sounds like fun to me. I will not have the time to try it anytime soon, but hope to in the future. I did one time encounter a fellow who claimed that he could within one day teach most anyone to shoot-and hit- thrown aspirin tablets with a BB gun. Wish I could have spent some time with him.

Bus Driving Man, the story also goes that an aristocrat in Britain had shot gun shells loaded with dust so that he could gun for large flying insects. For me, the hunt has lost it's thrill, but I was clever as a boy shooting bumble bee's with my Daisy. The trick to shooting the tossed asprin, glass ball, ect; is to time your shot to the apogee of the toss. The object stops briefly as gravity exerts its influence. The crux of the trick, beyond aquireing a sight picture, is to squeeze the round off just before the object briefly stops. Trigger pull after that is too late. The truly gifted shots know more about when the round exits the barrel, then they do about when the trigger is squeezed. Time at this point is slowed dramatically. Very existential shooting is. I'm sure you could do it. It's well know that all bus drivers are phylosiphers.
