Guy came and helped me tighten a chain link fence yesterday. He had this neat little tool that would almost fit in a work jacket pocket. Worked like a come a long. had a reversible drive ratchet handle like maybe a 1/2" drive. It used maybe 3/4" small chain. 8Ft or so long. Anyone familiar with this or anyone understand what I am talking about. He got away before I could get any details. He had just bought 2 of them and this was the first time he had used them. This really impressed me.

Yep, I had one at work for a while, little baby ratchet chain hoist. I'll see if I can find the literature on it. Our rep from Hertz equip rental (formerly contractor supply) brought them in. I think the capacity is 800lb, I traded it to my work partner for another 1-1/2 ton. The sales rep said around deer season all the ones at a neighboring plant disappear for a while. I think they run about $80, and have a load limiting slip clutch. I feel a lot more comfortable using the bigger one for lifting, pulling etc. The rep was in a couple weeks ago with a cordless miniature portaband, said the guy who designed it had lost an arm so he made one small enough to use one handed. I'll look tuesday for the brochure, or see if I can find a model number and mfg, regards, DK
