Aluminum corrosion

I've got a couple of well corroded aluminum carburetors that I'd like to clean the corrosion out of. Seems to me that it was here in this board there was some discussion of using a household chemical to clean corroded aluminum. Which of course I've forgotten now. Unfortunately, the search feature is down, and I'm not getting anything doing a Google search.

Any of you folks know of a good chemical to soak badly corroded aluminum in? Coke, laundry detergent, cat urine?

If the "corrosion" is really brown/black varnish from gasoline, soak them overnight in B12 Chemtool. Available from any auto parts store, get the liquid to soak and the spray to clean out the passages.

If by "corrosion" you mean the normal gray aluminum oxide, Bar Keeper's Friend works great. Any grocery store has it.

I need some information about using 316 Stainless Steel bolts with 6063-t52 alum handrail/ramp systems.
