Pep Boys scam

Has anyone else been ripped off by Pep Boys on rebates? I purchased cases of oil from them which included rebates. They don't pay them. If you call them they give you a total run around. I never liked their stores anyway. Just want to warn everyone else.

I've been wondering where my Pep boy Quaker State Oil rebate is, since it has been two months. I sent in a Licorice Root Mulch rebate and got it within two weeks. I keep a tickler on these rebates. I will be writing Pep Boys on my attorney letterhead. I start at the top of the food chain. I do collections work and this will be right up that alley. One must be like TAR - Tenacious, Aggressive and Relentless

I do not have a Pep-boys around here, but that is the reason I will not buy it if I need to wait for my rebate. Rebates have to be the biggest rip off these companies use. They either do not pay it or they drag you out so long you forget about it or they give you the we did not recieve it before the date of expiration excuse. I have walked out of Best Buy because they advertise something, then I do not read it close enough to find out, it is with rebate. As for chain type warehouse auto parts stores, it I can not find it myself, I do not even go there. A friend of mine went to Auto Zone yesterday looking for an electric fuel pump for his 1936 street rod, These people would not find one, said his books did not go back that far, and he knew that in 1936 they did not use an electric fuel pump on cars.

I guess you kept copies of everything you sent them. Sometimes on rebates you have to send another letter. I hate to do this because its a cost against my rebate. I made one store give me my postage back too. In your letter tell them your not writing again that your going to file on them. A lot of companies have taken corporate addresses off their web sites. If you go to a stock market report it has the names of the board and the corp address. Sending them a letter usually gets results.

I went to one of those "Day after Thanksgiving" get in line at 4 am to get a super buy on a computer monitor at Comp USA.

With a little hassle, I got out with the monitor for the price advertised, but the fine print on the ad said "with mail in rebate". Well the store had a problem finding the rebate application forms but they did and I mailed it in.

SIX MONTHS later my rebate showed up!

So much for rebates and Comp USA

I went to Pep Boys once... Was looking for 15W40 Rotella, Manager said no one uses that.... So I left, never went back...

I had similar deal in OReily's last week, went in store looking for 30 wt synthetic for a new small engine I just bought.....they didn't have it but one of their "parts experts" tried very hard to get me to buy 10W-30 demanding it is the same thing..... I just walked out of the store.

Sounds like you have the same luck there as I have sometimes at Auto Zone. Seems like they have to be the only one open when I am shopping for me to go there anymore, or it's a small hardware item that really doesn't make that much difference on quality or size.
