Hey guys. I am looking at buying an old Ingersoll Rand air compressor pump. Type 30, 2 stage, size 3 & 1 3/4 X 2 3/4, compressor # 30T 14686. My question is, how many CFM does it put out, how old is it, and were they any good? I can get the pump and a homemade tank and motor for $100.00. Good deal?

Keep the pump and motor, "The home made tank" throw it away!!!! It is just an accident looking for a place to happen. I knew a guy that used a water tank for storage tank on air compressor, one day the preasure shutoff switch stuck, good thing no one was close to compressor. Because when it blew threw scrap metel 300 feet and more. Found the head, a block away. Good tanks are cheaper than arms, legs and yours or someone elses life.
just my two cents.

T30's were rugged, reliable workhorses. They are cheap and easy to rebuild if the need arises. Sounds like it might be a 234 which would put it in the 2 to 3 hp range, or about 6 to 10 cfm.

Hey Trucks, the Type-30 compressor series is one of the most popular that IR makes. They make them in a variety of HP/CFM sizes, and I'm not really sure which one you have I can't really answer your questions in that area. Here is a link to IR's web site. You should be able to call them and get the information you need.
