O.T. Whirlpool washing machine

Went all though gearbox to find the problem was the motor coupling to the gearbox. In the process I spilled all the oil that was in there.

Question: Do you Think Hy Trans oil will work O.K.? I've already in there, but I would like your opinion.

A few months ago I found myself diving in to repair a refridgerator. The fridge was repaired without costing me an astronomical amount for parts. It's a SEAR's Kenmore but I found this web site by accident, and it covers many makes of appliances. Try going to wwwgeappliance.com there is both repair advice and parts that you can get from this web site. I don't have a business, but my girl freind does and next time I need to get parts I will be trying to get them from this site.

Are you married?

If the answer is "no", then try whatever you want. What's a little oil on the floor, after all?

If the answer is "yes", then my advice is that you buy a new washing machine now.

Doesn't that just frost you? A $8 part, probably broke on the white, plastic between the two rubber pieces and a 15 minute fix now becomes a problem. Oh, I don't know what goes into that gearbox,,could be just heavy weight oil for all I know. I just typed this because I know your pain. Look at it this way, if the machine had a few years on it, a new one costs $400 and it has a warrantee.

I had a Kenmore (whirlpool) direct drive machine really like the way it came apart and parts are pretty accessable. I also had to replace the motor coupler. My real issues came with a small pin in the transmission that kept breaking. I kept fabricating my own until I bought the kit with the real pin. I just ran whatever 90 wt gear oil I had in the garage in it. Used RTV for a gasket and never had a problem. Ran it like that for about 5 years. We recently bought a new front load machine scratch & dent, $800 W/tax, delivery.

Would you believe there's a practially new front loader in the basement, but this washer at the farm is the one we "HAVE" to use, cause its not on city water.
