I've heard that you can buy battery wires where the connector stays bolted to the battery post and you unplug the wire (male-female style) from the connector when not in use to avoid damage and fire hazard from shorted out electrical wires. Anybody know of such a thing or where you can buy them? Thanks

I always aim for the fewest connections (failure points) possible. Perhaps instead of adding possible points of failure/corrosion you could rearrange your batteries so it would be easier to disconnect the positive terminal (the corroding one) with a simple open-end wrench.

At one time Tractor Supply handled the green knob type. I think they were around $5.00. I don't know if they still sell them. They work good. I have one on a B JD. It keeps the battery from discharging, when not using the tractor.

Hi Bob,

The only other disconnect that would be rated for the amperage would be a "jones" plug for golf cart chargers.

The kinfe/blade type would cost less, maybe from Camping World, JC Whitney.

You might also look at boating supplies as I think they use a automatic disconnect (spendy).

Recreation vehicle supply places (dealiers) have battery disconnects that are a blade type that mount on the post.

Closest thing I have seen are the Green Knob disconnects. All you do is unscrew the knob about a turn or two. Easiest place to find? E-Bay, $4+ shipping. I'll attach a link. These things are ALWAYS offered there @ $4....
You'll have to do cut & paste....
