OT: Building Comparison

I'm about to start building a small (20x30) bunk house. This project has been on the back burner for awhile, but is finally happening.
I started pricing lumber, and it's gone out the roof!
Has anyone had any experience with metal studs, trusses, etc? I'm not talking about a pre-fabbed metal building. How does pricing compare?
Thanks for your input!

You may want to price around for the wood, if you want wood. I bought some landscape timbers a month ago and the guy gave me a 10% discount because the order was $700. If you buy all the materials from one source, wood, shingles, nails siding etc. then they might give you a price break...never hurts to ask.

I have used metal studs in comerical building for fifteen years, and love them so much eaiser than wood. we built our bunk house (20x20) out of 18ga metal studs and built 1-1/2 sq tube trusses and set on top of the walls. Worked real good built the trusses in the shop and carried them out and welded them down to the top plate, But have heard in the last month or so that metal studs were higher than wood now because of all of the steel increase going on. I would still much rather use metal but cost might not let that be affordable.whatever you decide have fun with it.
