Its an intake manifold for a Flat head ford V8. Used for a air compressor conversion, 4 burning and 4 compressing. I have a friend who has one of these that drives am AC generator too, mounted on a trailer. He restored it.

Now if you could get the plans and other parts for the conversion.

Hmmmmm..... do a Funk V8 conversion on an 8N and then make it an air compressor. You'd still have more hp than the original engine.

I know Schramm (is it one M or two?) did this with Mineapolis-Moline tractors.

I've also seen those for small block Fords. Had one on a 351W in the shop many years ago. 150psi, but I don't remember the CFM. Was used by a demolition company for powering jack hammers and breakers and the like, so it was producing a good amount of air.

I dont' know about the V8 head but my dad has a SMITH with a Model "A" Ford engine in it. Two outer pistons; one and four are the engine and the two centers are the pump. It is set for 100lbs. of pressure. the CFMs are not a stagger but with four inch pistons going up and down it is pretty good. It will run a 90lps sand blaster, and that is some where near 80Cfm. Sounds real cool and weard at the same time. Kind of like a lopsided old motorcycle in a king size form.

Sounds like something I could use. I have an Ingersal-Rand G125 with Continental engine that needs the head milled and can't find anyone with the machine to do it. I'm told the reason is because it has an intergal water outlet. Do you know of any kits/parts available for '60, '70, or '80 engines that can be used as compressors?

Ijust bought a Schraam 2 X 2 compressor.I was told that it is an IH engine conversion,but have not had time to really study the thing .Will be out of town till next week,but will get back on this subject when I return.For sure my unit is not a Ford V 8

Is your Schraam a "35"? If so I am looking for ANY info on this unit as I have one in need of rebuild. Mine is on a leaf spring axle trailer and runs on 2 cyl and pumps air on the other two. Parts, info or just share frustrations, email me....remove *no*spam* from address.

At one time I had heard of a compressor conversion for a GM 6.5 diesel. At least I think it was the 6.5, the one that was common in the 80's.

A guy I used to work with had one and the drawings to do the conversion. Don't know if he ever finished it or not.
