I've used the Lubri-Plate -- which seems like a graphite spray -- with only limited success. I'm still scrapin' the deck. Did justify a chain hoist to raise the mower, however...

I brush my (brace yourself tree-huggers) used oil on mine. Have to do it a few times a season. Works well.

I have used the rubberized undercoat on my deck. It keeps the grass from getting to the metal. I have not noticed any problems with grass build up and the odd rock or stick just bounce around and don't dent the deck.

I was wondering how the do-it-yourself truck bed liner stuff would work. Help with the rusting process too.

Bill: There is a graphite-based paint availible that is used for this. It's not cheap, but works VERY well. A friend did his deck a couple of years ago, and the grass just falls right off.

I have heard using pam or silicone spray. Never tried it. I dont think there is anything you can do except dont mow wet grass. I have just accepted the fact when I get done mowing, use the hose or air hose on it.

I have heard of spraying it with PAM, the same stuff you would spray in the frying pan to kep food from sticking. I have never tried it.
