Dave, I'd have e-mailed you but I lost yer addy. Here goes, Treating this as if it were mine, and not advising a customer. I'd take into consideration my parents age, and what would be done with the home in the next 10 to 15 years. If you plan to keep the home I'd go with cast, the 35 years you got out of that weil probably won't happen with steel, the steel water jackets are easier to replace, but the wear on the rest of the unit dismantling and reassembling is alot. The choice to use steel over cast is usually decided on 3 factors. Intended length of use, initial cost, and water quality. If you have a severe deposit problem, you will not get the life out of either kind. I hate to bring the decision down to these factors, but the operational efficiency is not that much different in a 1 or 2 person household. Most boilers are of like quality, as for burners, I usually recomend Beckett, if your dealer still handles, Weil, I would go with that with no reservations. Good luck, lemme know if I can help anymore. Ron
