power drill battery

bought a cordless power drill at garage sale. it is an 18 volt, with charger. works good. looking ahead, i may need a battery somesay. it is made in china by hongda tools. they have a web site, but it is tied in with a trade organization, and it seems difficult to get touch with thw company and order a battery. so the question is , anyone know of the tool, where can batteries be bought, or can there be a substitute be made, sorry for long post. thanks to all.

Do a web search for Voltman.com and they can supply most any battery for power tools like that.

If you've got a Batteries Plus store around, you could try there. If the battery pack can be dismantled they can fill with the smaller batteries to make up the proper voltage. That's what they do with my Porter Cable.

thanks for the quick reply. i'm not aware of there being a batteries plus store here in our little town. we have radio shack etc. i'll remember to check at a larger city the next time i'm going that way. have a good day

Most Interstate Battery Distributors also rebuild small tool battery packs. That is "Distributors", not the local dealer. The local dealer may be able to send it in though.

I have found that the 12 volt, dc. hand tools to the desireable. There have been times when I have had to use my service van 12v. system to get the job done. 18 volt tools are ok, except when the "chargers" quit. Hope this helps.

Are the tweleve volt drills powerfull enough to do a good job? I've always used 18 volt drills, because I figured that they'd be more pwoerful.
