Seems that i can no longer file my saw blades due to poor eyesight and the sharpening shops are getting more costly. Looks like I may have to go to carbide blades. I have long spoken against carbide . I hope they have improved in the last 40 years. Any suggestions?

You never stated what kind of saw, or what you intend to cut with it BUT, carbide saw blades are BETTER now than they were 10 years ago, let alone 40 years ago!!!!

I'm with the guy that likes Freud blades!!! Make sure you get the right blade for the saw and job it's intended for!!

Sears blades have too much runout for me, maybe they are better now than they use to be????

I "used" to get my 10" blades sharpened for a buck. No more, so I went to good quality carbide blades. I really like them, but like the other poster, you got to get a good one to begin with.
I been using sears blades for years.

Gas use to cost 20 cents' a gal when I was young. Take some money out of your over loaded sock and take those blades to a good shop. I may not be rich but I'm HAPPY
