Any one got oneof these? Do they make the ATV hard to steer? Need some extra mounts made to connect the mower? I'm thinking it might be a good idea so my wife will like mowing more. She runs our Skag stand behind on a one wheel velke now but the bouncing hurts her back. I know I should take over but it gets her outside and she likes to mow. The other option might be a pull behind for the Quad. Any input? Thanks, Gus.

I've got a 60" Swisher pull type mower, and it works great for me. I've got a lot of ground to mow, but not much to mow around. One of the things I like is that I can pretty much stay out of the dust when mowing (I live in WY), something I can't do on a rider. The ATV rides a lot better than a rider, and it's easier to speed up through thin spots (I can also run down gophers with it!). Also, the ATV never runs out of power when mowing uphill. I use a push mower for mowing around buildings.

Swisher pull type, huh? I suppose I could get one of those instead of a front mount. Then I would have to do the trimming for her with the Skag. Wyoming you say? A group of us are trying to plan an ATV trip to the bighorns this summer.Ever done any of it with a quad? Gus

I haven't made it to the Bighorns with the wheeler yet. Maybe this summer I will. I'm only about 100 miles from there. Where are you coming from?

Matt, coming from Michigan. Called the orv Wyoming trails dept. They sent me some maps of all the trail areas in the state. Bighorns had the most. If I understand right, you being a resident can ride almost anywhere? But tourists are restricted to marked trails only. We have to get ORV permits when we get there or we can call ahead. I was told we should come before Sept. because of weather and hunting season.

I'm not sure about residents being able to ride anywhere, since it is a national forest, but I've never looked into it, either. I do know that as a non-resident you can't go into a "wilderness area" without a guide. Definitely make your trip between June and August. The weather before and after is pretty unpredictable. If you're in the southern end of the Bighorns make sure you drive through Ten Sleep Canyon, it's pretty cool. And bring your bug spray.
