I have a Water Furnace brand geothermal heat pump. Ihave had it for 12 years and it has never failed. The guy who installed it told me last year that he never has had to go back and service any of the units he put in. I am in Michigan and my January bill for heat and hot water was $99.00 temperatures were near 0 most of the month. My summertime air conditioning runs $20.00 /month. My house is 1450 sq ft with a full basement. Mine is open loop. I don't recirculate my water it is dumped into a ditch out back. I highly recommend thi system.

Mark,
We have the geo-thermal and are very satisfied with it,especially the electric bills. Our house is 2800sq ft(total elec) and our bills run slightly over $100 a month, and that's with me in my out building alot.I don't know what a water furnace is,the only water ours has is a small resevoir that has water in it.Our co-op promotes the geo-thermal and they install the lines on new construction.

I have had a Water Furnace for about 13 years, and think it is great. I have the super D option that also provides part of my hot water. My home is small, only about 1200 square feet, with an unfinished basement. I live 70 miles south Of St. Louis, Mo where our winter temperatures range as low as -10, and summer occasionally as high as 100 (rare). We have a year around billing plan, that runs $96 per month for everything. I have one child still at home, as well as myself being presently disabled, so there usually is a computer and/or television running most of the time. We have the lines buried behind our house, but you can also have a setup where they drill a well and grout it in. I think if I were doing it again I would go for the well option. It is a little higher, but is also more efficient. Unit is very quiet even though the compressor is in the basement. I do have the backup electric heat strips. Only problems : I've had to add water to the system 2 times, and the super D hot water pump failed ujnder warranty.

I live 100 miles south of St. Louis at Patton. I also have about the same size house and have had mine about that long. Dennis and Calvin Bey from Perryville installed mine. It gives excellent service and total electric bill runs from $65 to $80 a month.
